I added an in-line transmission filter between the radiator and the external transmission cooler behind the grill. Installing at this point in the
system eliminates the need to cut into the hard transmission lines allowing you to install at a point where the system uses transmission cooler hose. Installation took less than an hour and so far the results have been
phenomenal. WARNING: Use caution when connecting the hoses to the filter assembly. Some filters use have an anti-siphon check valve. Hooking up the hoses backwards will prevent fluid from flowing and damage your
transmission.
The system uses a regular Ford spin-on oil filter. Installation in this location was the easiest as it allows
quick access to the filter and quick rerouting of hoses in case of a leak. Although the filter protrudes slightly into the fender well it does not come in contact with the tire. If you are concerned about this you can
always add a half height filter although I would change it more frequently.
A close up shot of the filter assembly looking through the gap between the bumper and the body. Notice the IN and OUT markings on the assembly. This is very important. The brass nut between the hoses is for
the installation of a temp or pressure sending unit. Some kits available come with gauges although they are significantly more expensive.
Good Luck!
